In an emergency, a stranger has seconds to help you — but usually no way to know your blood group, your allergies, or who to call. SafeTag fixes that with a small QR + NFC tag that turns any phone into a lifeline. Here's exactly how it works.
What is a SafeTag?
A SafeTag is a durable QR + NFC emergency identity tag you clip to a bag, wristband, keychain or helmet. When someone scans the QR code or taps the NFC chip with any smartphone, they instantly see the information you chose to share — no app to download, on either side.
For a medical tag that means your blood group and allergies, emergency contacts, and any critical conditions — the details that help a first responder act correctly in the first crucial minutes.
Set it up in 3 steps
1. Scan to register
Point your phone camera at the QR code on your new tag (or tap it if your phone supports NFC). It opens your tag's private setup page. No app, no login walls.
2. Fill in your details
Enter what you want a rescuer to see: name, blood group, allergies, medications, and one or two emergency contacts. You decide exactly what's shown — you can leave anything out.
3. Activate
Save, and your tag is live. From that moment, anyone who scans it sees your emergency profile in about 3 seconds.
One scan. No app. Under 3 seconds to the information that can save a life.
QR and NFC — why both?
Every SafeTag carries both a printed QR code and an embedded NFC chip, so a helper can use whichever is faster in the moment. Curious which matters more? We compare them in QR vs NFC emergency tags.
Your privacy stays in your control
Your profile isn't public and can't be searched online — it only opens when your physical tag is scanned. You choose which fields to show, and you can update or hide them anytime. Phone numbers are revealed on tap rather than printed in plain text, so casual scrapers get nothing.
Who is it for?
SafeTag is built for anyone who can't always speak for themselves in an emergency — children, elderly parents and dementia patients, bikers and commuters, solo travellers, and people with medical conditions. And because it's a flexible QR + NFC platform, the same tag can do much more than medical ID — see 8 smart uses for a QR + NFC tag.
